Growing up in Herman, Missouri, Nathaniel Rateliff started his music career playing in his family’s band at church, and music became an obsession for him and his friends. After relocating to Denver and playing rock music in various incarnations, Rateliff began gravitating towards a folksier sound. He released an album on Rounder Records with a backing band called The Wheel, and despite the critical success of that and subsequent solo acoustic albums, he was still trying to explore new sounds. Rateliff had loved soul music since he was a teenager and a set of demos he recorded in the early 2010s gradually grew into Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. Released in 2015 on the relaunched Stax Records, the album became a massive hit (now certified Platinum in the U.S.) and pushed the band out on tour both stateside and abroad. Rateliff will return to his days before The Night Sweats, performing an all acoustic show with songs taken from his earlier folk releases.
